Description
This copper 1 Paisa coin was issued by the Princely State of Ratlam in 1942 under the authority of Raja Ranjit Singh. Struck in copper with a milled technique and measuring approximately 24 mm in diameter, it represents one of the later circulating coinages of the small but historically significant Ratlam state within British India.
The obverse displays ornate floral and vine motifs surrounding a central emblem, framed by decorative borders that reflect traditional Indian artistic styles used in princely state coinage.
The reverse features the denomination written in Devanagari script within a circular border, also surrounded by stylized floral patterns that mirror the decorative theme of the obverse.
Coins from smaller princely states such as Ratlam offer collectors a fascinating glimpse into the diverse monetary systems of pre-independence India. This piece is particularly attractive for collectors of Indian princely coinage and regional historical issues.
