Description
This copper **4 Cash coin was issued by the Kingdom of Travancore between 1906 and 1935 during the reign of Maharaja Moolam Thirunal Rama Varma. Travancore was one of the most prominent princely states of South India and produced a distinctive series of copper coinage widely circulated in the region.
The obverse features the sacred Shanku (Conch Shell) — an important royal and cultural symbol in Travancore — placed within a circular ornamental border and flanked by decorative sprays. The reverse displays the denomination “FOUR CASH” along with the royal monogram “RV” (Rama Varma) and the Malayalam legend “Nalu Kashu”, meaning four cash, within a beaded circle.
Struck in copper with a diameter of approximately 17.5 mm, this coin represents the everyday currency of Travancore during the early 20th century.
