Description

This copper 1 Falus was issued during the reign of Ghiyath Shah of the Malwa Sultanate between AH 877–904 (1472–1499 AD). The Malwa Sultanate was one of the prominent regional powers in central India during the late medieval period. Struck in copper using the hammered technique, these coins typically follow the 80 rati weight standard and are often seen on irregular square flans.

The obverse features bold Arabic calligraphy arranged across multiple lines, usually including the name and titles of Sultan Ghiyath Shah. The design reflects the calligraphic style commonly used in Sultanate coinage.

The reverse continues with stylized Islamic inscriptions, often presenting religious phrases or additional royal titles framed within decorative borders typical of Malwa minting style.

Coins of the Malwa Sultanate are valued for their distinctive square shapes and elegant calligraphy. This Falus represents an important example of late medieval Indian Islamic coinage and is an appealing addition for collectors specializing in Sultanate-era numismatics.
