Description

This 2 Rupees banknote was issued by the Reserve Bank of India during the Republic period between 1970 and 1985. It belongs to the early post-independence decimal currency era and represents an important phase in the evolution of modern Indian banknote design. The “without motto under pillar” variety is especially collected as a distinctive subtype within the series.

The obverse features the denomination in English and Hindi along with the Ashoka Pillar emblem of India. Printed in an attractive dark pink shade, the note carries the classic RBI promise text and multilingual inscriptions that were characteristic of Indian currency during this period.

The reverse displays traditional ornamental artwork and design elements typical of vintage Indian banknotes of the 1970s era. In UNC condition, the note retains excellent paper quality, vibrant colour, and crisp printing, making it a desirable addition for collectors of Indian Republic currency notes.
