Description

Issued between circa 1882–1920 under Maharaja Madho Singh II of Jaipur, this copper Paisa belongs to the later coinage of the Jaipur princely state during the British colonial era. Struck in a traditional hammered style with a round fabric, the coin weighs approximately 5 grams and reflects the enduring regional minting traditions of Rajasthan.

The obverse carries bold Persian legends arranged in an ornamental calligraphic style, characteristic of Jaipur state coinage produced under Mughal-influenced monetary conventions.

The reverse features additional Persian inscriptions with stylized linear arrangements, executed in compact form and framed within decorative border elements typical of late princely state issues.

Coins of Madho Singh II are appreciated for their historical connection to Jaipur’s royal lineage and their blend of traditional Indian and Islamic numismatic influences. An appealing addition for collectors of princely states, Rajput history, and hammered Indian coinage.
