Description
A historic 100 Rupees banknote from India, issued by the Reserve Bank of India and released in April 1967 as part of the distinctive Diamond Series.
The obverse features a large ornamental “100” numeral at the centre, surrounded by an intricate diamond-like pattern that gives the series its popular name. The denomination appears in English and Hindi, with red prefix numbers positioned at the top right and bottom left.
The reverse depicts the Hirakud Dam at Sambalpur, Odisha, one of the major multipurpose river valley projects developed in post-independence India. The note also carries the denomination in multiple Indian languages, highlighting India’s linguistic diversity.
