Description

This 1/2 Paisa copper coin belongs to the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir during the reign of Maharaja Ranbir Singh (1856–1885). Weighing approximately 3.15 grams and measuring 16 mm in diameter, it features an irregular round shape and a traditional hammered finish characteristic of regional coinage.

The obverse displays the Jammu mint name in Persian script, with the Vikram Samvat date 1936 placed above. The compact lettering reflects the distinctive minting conventions of the Dogra period.

The reverse carries the inscription “Jamu Kasa Mira” in Dogri/Dogra script, identifying Jammu and Kashmir. The bold, stylized lettering gives the coin its characteristic regional appearance.

This coin is well suited to collectors of Dogra dynasty, Jammu and Kashmir, and Indian princely-state coinage. Its historical association with Maharaja Ranbir Singh, traditional script, and hammered copper construction make it a meaningful addition to a collection of regional Indian currency.
