Description
This is an authentic silver Padmatanka issued during the rule of the Yadavas of Devagiri (c. 1200–1247 CE), a powerful dynasty that governed large parts of west-central India with their capital at Devagiri (present-day Daulatabad).
The obverse displays a stylized lion facing left, a strong royal symbol commonly associated with power and sovereignty during this period.
The reverse bears a partially struck Devanagari legend “DEVA”, indicating the ruler’s name, though the full inscription is not clearly visible—making attribution to a specific ruler challenging and adding numismatic intrigue.
Such partially legible issues are typically attributed to the reign of King Singhana Deva II, one of the most prominent Yadava rulers.
Struck in silver, this compact coin (approx. 0.95 g, 8 mm) reflects the monetary system of the medieval Deccan and is highly sought after due to its scarcity, age, and historical importance.
