Description
The 200 Won banknote was issued by the Central Bank of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea during the modern period of North Korea’s currency system. Introduced in the late 2000s, it formed part of the circulating banknotes used within the state-controlled economy of the DPRK and reflects the nation’s emphasis on technological progress and national pride.
The obverse features a stylized nuclear power symbol alongside the famous winged horse statue “Chollima” located in Pyongyang. The Chollima monument represents speed, productivity, and the rapid development campaign promoted by the North Korean government. Korean Hangul text identifies the issuing authority and denomination.
On the reverse, the note displays decorative ornamental patterns with the denomination prominently centered. The clean yet symbolic design reflects the distinctive visual style of North Korean banknotes. Because currency from North Korea is difficult to obtain outside the country, this note has become a fascinating and desirable piece for world banknote collectors.
