Description

The Chuttus of Banavasi ruled parts of the Deccan region, particularly present-day Karnataka, during the early centuries CE, with Banavasi serving as their important centre. The dynasty is generally associated with the period between the 1st and 3rd centuries CE and is regarded as one of the regional powers that emerged around the declining Satavahana sphere. This coin is a lead fractional unit, characteristic of early South Indian and Deccan coinage.
