Description
This copper 1 Gani was issued under Sultan Ala al-Din Ahmad Shah II of the Bahmani Sultanate during AH 841–866 (1438–1462 CE). Struck using the hammered minting technique on an irregular round flan, the coin represents the vibrant monetary system of the medieval Deccan Sultanates. The broad copper format and bold engraved legends are characteristic of Bahmani circulation issues.
The obverse carries an elegant Persian inscription praising the ruler with Islamic honorifics and royal epithets. The deeply engraved calligraphy, arranged in compact horizontal lines, reflects the refined artistic tradition seen in Bahmani numismatic designs.
The reverse displays the name and titulature of Ahmad Shah II in Persian script. The layout combines strong linear composition with traditional Islamic calligraphic aesthetics, creating a visually distinctive medieval Sultanate issue.
Bahmani copper coinage remains highly collectible due to its historical importance, regional identity, and beautiful Persian legends. This 1 Gani type is especially appealing for collectors of Deccan Sultanates, Islamic calligraphy coinage, and medieval Indian history.
