Description

Struck between circa 200–340 CE, this bronze Kakini belongs to the Naga dynasty of Narwar, often identified with the Padmavati Nagas of central India. Produced in an irregular round fabric and weighing approximately 1.98 grams, the coin reflects the localized minting traditions of the early historic period.

The obverse displays a stylized bull motif, an important symbolic element in ancient Indian coinage, executed in a bold and compact form suited to the small flan.

The reverse carries abstract linear and symbolic devices characteristic of Naga coinage, showcasing the simplified artistic style common among regional dynasties of the era.

Coins of the Naga rulers are valued for their historical importance, scarce regional identity, and early iconographic designs. This piece makes an appealing addition for collectors of ancient Indian, tribal, and pre-Gupta coinage.
