Description

The 1 Rupee banknote issued in 1951 represents one of the early currency issues of independent India. Unlike most banknotes printed by the Reserve Bank of India, the 1 Rupee note was issued directly by the Government of India and signed by the Secretary of the Ministry of Finance. It reflects the financial structure and administrative system of India during the early post-independence era.

The obverse features the national emblem of India, the Lion Capital of Ashoka, along with the denomination and official text reading “Government of India.” The note carries bilingual inscriptions in English and Hindi, along with the signature of K.
