Description
This 1 Yuan banknote was issued by the Bank of Taiwan during the 50th year of the Republic of China, corresponding to 1961. It belongs to the 1st Horizontal issue and circulated as part of Taiwan’s early New Taiwan Dollar currency series. The note was later demonetized in 2002.
The obverse features a portrait of Dr. Sun Yat-sen on the left, while the right side presents an illustration of Chinshui Cliff in Hualien, highlighting Taiwan’s natural scenery. Traditional Chinese inscriptions identify the Bank of Taiwan, denomination, and Republic of China era.
The reverse continues the traditional engraved style with a scenic architectural landscape and the denomination “1” prominently displayed. Its historical connection to early postwar Taiwanese currency and its classic design make it an appealing addition for collectors of Taiwan and Republic of China banknotes.
