Description
Issued in 1942 during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines (1942–1945), this 10 Pesos banknote was part of the emergency currency printed by the Japanese military administration. These notes circulated widely during World War II and are today remembered as a symbolic reminder of wartime economies and occupation-era currency.
The obverse features a large stylised letter “X” on the left along with the inscription “The Japanese Government – Ten Pesos”, accompanied by plantation imagery on the right. The design is simple yet historically powerful, reflecting the urgent wartime printing style.
