Description
This 100 Rupees banknote was issued by the Reserve Bank of India between 1960 and 1967 during the early decades of the Republic of India. Introduced after the decimalisation reforms of 1957, the note represented one of the country’s important high-value circulation denominations during a period of economic development and modernization.
The obverse displays the iconic Ashoka Pillar emblem along with multilingual inscriptions, ornate guilloche patterns, and the classic Reserve Bank promise text. Printed in deep lavender and multicolour tones, the design continued the traditional style of earlier Indian banknotes while incorporating updated layout elements and denomination panels.
The reverse features an industrial-themed vignette symbolizing India’s growing infrastructure and economic progress during the post-independence era. With its large size, intricate engraving, and vintage Republic-era charm, this banknote remains a desirable piece among collectors of Indian and world paper currency.
