Description

The 200 Đồng banknote was issued in 1987 by the State Bank of Vietnam during the period of the Vietnam Socialist Republic. It circulated during the early years of the country’s economic reform program known as Đổi Mới, when Vietnam began transitioning toward a more open market economy while maintaining its socialist structure.

The obverse of the banknote features a portrait of Ho Chi Minh, the founding leader of modern Vietnam and a central figure in the country’s independence movement. Alongside the portrait appears the national emblem and the denomination “Hai Trăm Đồng,” printed in distinctive red tones on a multicolored background.

The reverse depicts a tractor working in a rural landscape, symbolizing agricultural development and the importance of farming to Vietnam’s economy. The design reflects the nation’s focus on labor, production, and rural progress during the post-war period. Because of its historical significance and iconic imagery of Ho Chi Minh, this banknote remains a meaningful collectible for world currency enthusiasts.
