250 Gulden Banknote Suriname UNC

Issued in 1988 by the Central Bank of Suriname, this 250 Gulden banknote is one of the most visually striking notes of the Surinamese Gulden series. The obverse features a portrait of Anton de Kom (1888–1945), renowned Surinamese author, anti-colonial activist, and national hero, alongside a militia figure and architectural elements representing the country’s heritage.

The reverse showcases a colorful toucan, one of Suriname’s iconic tropical birds, together with people gathered around a speaker, symbolizing communication, unity, and national identity. Printed by Thomas De La Rue & Company Limited with intricate multicolour security designs, this demonetized banknote remains highly collectible for enthusiasts of Caribbean and South American paper currency.
