Description
The 500 Tenge banknote was issued by the National Bank of Kazakhstan on 25 December 2025 as part of the Saka-style series. The design draws inspiration from the ancient cultural heritage of Kazakhstan, combining historical Saka motifs with elements representing the country’s natural environment.
The obverse features the head of a Transcaspian urial in profile, alongside a “Tree of Life” motif inspired by the headgear of the famous Golden Man from the Issyk kurgan burial mound. A DNA spiral, national emblem and modern security thread complete the contemporary design.
The reverse depicts snow-covered mountains, a standing Transcaspian urial and a circular Kazakh symbol, framed by an infinity ornament. With its combination of ancient Saka heritage, wildlife and modern security design, this 2025 issue is a particularly interesting addition to collections of modern Asian banknotes.
