Description

This rare ancient coin belongs to King Satyamitra, a lesser-known ruler of the Ayodhya region, dated to around the 3rd century AD, following the collapse of Kushan authority in North India.
The obverse depicts a bull standing left, accompanied by a sacrificial spear, symbolizing strength, fertility, and ritual authority.
On the reverse, a peacock facing right appears alongside a palm tree, motifs often associated with prosperity, renewal, and regional identity.
Coins of Satyamitra are considered scarce and historically important, marking the rise of local rulers during a transitional political phase.
This issue is a significant example of post-Kushan regional coinage from Ayodhya, highly sought after by advanced collectors.
