Description
Issued at the ancient city of Taxila (Pushkalavati) around 185–170 BC, this copper unit belongs to the civic coinage of one of the Indian subcontinent’s foremost centers of trade, learning, and cultural exchange. Struck in copper using hammered technique, these coins represent the local monetary traditions of the northwestern region during the Indo-Greek era.
The obverse carries the Brahmi legend “Go” accompanied by the distinctive three-arched hill symbol, a recurring emblem associated with the civic coinage of Taxila and its regional identity.
