Description
Struck circa 900–1000 AD under Rana Hastin, this small silver damma represents regional coinage associated with the Chaulukya feudatories. Weighing حوالي 0.49 grams and struck on a compact irregular flan, it reflects early medieval minting traditions of Western India.
The obverse depicts an elephant walking to the right within a dotted border, symbolizing strength and royal authority in a bold, stylized manner.
The reverse carries an early Nagari legend in two lines reading “Sri Rana / Hasti (Hastiya),” rendered in a primitive yet distinctive script style.
This type is valued for its clear iconography and early inscriptional form. It appeals to collectors focusing on early Indian silver issues, regional dynasties, and animal motif coinage.
