Description
Struck during the reign of Sussala Deva in the 12th century AD, this copper coin belongs to the Lohara Dynasty of Kashmir. These coins are known for their compact flans and stylized engraving, representing a unique regional numismatic tradition of medieval India.
The obverse depicts a stylized seated goddess facing forward, accompanied by Sharada script legend reading “Shri Sussala,” reflecting religious symbolism and royal authority.
The reverse shows a stylized standing king making an offering at a sacrificial altar, with the Sharada legend “Deva” placed below the arm, continuing the symbolic narrative.
