Description

Struck between 1103 and 1128 AD under Mahipala Deva, this copper 1 Jital represents the coinage of the Tomara rulers of early medieval North India. Weighing حوالي 3.1 grams with a compact irregular flan, it reflects typical hammered minting of the period.

The obverse displays the Nagari legend “Mahipal,” clearly visible in this specimen, indicating a well-struck and well-preserved example.

The reverse features abstract and stylized motifs characteristic of Tomara coinage, often symbolic rather than representational.

Coins with fully legible ruler names are particularly sought after in this series. This example stands out for its clarity and completeness, making it a strong addition for collectors of early Indian and regional dynastic coinage.
