Description
This 1 Ngultrum banknote was issued by the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan between 2006 and 2019 during the reign of King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. The note represents modern Bhutan while preserving the country’s deep-rooted Buddhist traditions and distinctive national identity.
The obverse features the Dharmachakra (Wheel of Dharma) positioned between two majestic Druk dragons, revered symbols of Bhutan and its spiritual heritage. Executed in elegant blue tones with intricate decorative patterns, the design reflects the kingdom’s unique blend of culture, religion, and artistry.
The reverse depicts the historic Simtokha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most important fortresses and monastic institutions. In UNC condition, the note retains crisp original paper, vibrant colours, and sharp printing details, making it a desirable addition to collections of Asian and world paper currency.
