Description

Struck between 1664 and 1680 AD during the reign of Shivaji Maharaj, this copper 1 Paisa represents early Maratha monetary issues. With a weight of approximately 10.39 grams and an irregular hammered fabric, it reflects the traditional minting techniques of the period.

The obverse displays a well-struck and complete Devanagari legend reading “Chhatrapati Shri Raja,” clearly visible in this excellent grade specimen, highlighting the authority of Shivaji Maharaj.

The reverse continues with Devanagari inscriptions in a structured arrangement, typical of early Maratha issues, complementing the bold obverse legend.
